2020 Unislam National Runner-Up

The Sheffield University Poetry Society was founded in 2013 and encourages the reading, writing and appreciation of poetry. From Wordsworth to Simon Armitage, from Chaucer to the Notorious B.I.G. Our aim is to create inclusive spaces for people to share and enjoy all types of poetry in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Whether you've never written a poem before, or you're a professional poet with your eyes on a spot in poets corner, we want you!

We have workshops where you can learn new writing techniques, discuss professional poets work, and get feedback on your own poems (if you like!).

For those who enjoy spoken word we run an award-winning open mic night once a month you can have a practice yourself or just spectate, it's completely up to you.

The best way to find out what's going on is to follow our Facebook page and Instagram. Feel free to contact us if you have any queries as we take inclusion very seriously and do our absolute best to make sure all our members feel comfortable and included.

People from all backgrounds are welcome.

1 Year membership is £3 and gives you free access to our open mic's and workshops

Lifetime membership is £5 and gives you priority for all events.

Committee

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students' Union.

It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
